Our system begins with full-spectrum optics that image walnuts in free fall without requiring a clean background. During processing, the camera remains clean for hours thanks to a well-spaced imaging window. In addition, the color touchscreen makes adjustments easy.

Walnut Kernel Grader

Introduced in 2022, WECO’s Shell Sorter builds on our sorting expertise in the shelled and in-shell product market.

The Kernel Grader automates color grading for processors by performing color sample tests in just a few seconds. Up to 100 pieces can be analyzed at a time; however, the machine can also process smaller samples by automatically ignoring empty test cups.

Originally developed to evaluate products according to the United States Department of Agriculture AMS color chart, the Kernel Grader can be configured for any color grading standard.
